What we do.

MAV at the University of North Texas is a very active group. We are involved in multiple campaigns and programs with an intention to eliminate men's violence against women. This is a partial list of what we do. For more info, please see our FAQ.

Presentations:

We specialize in giving presentations to groups of young adults, specifically high school and college age. We have presented at many universities around the state of Texas including the University of North Texas, Texas Women's University, Prairie View, A&M, University of Houston Clear Lake, and Collin County Community College.

Our presentations cover a wide variety of issues, including (but not limited to): sexual assault and acquaintance rape, gender based violence, relationship violence, gender socialization, homophobia redefining masculinity, and assertiveness.

We can give a presentation to just about any group, including; classes, community events, fraternities and sororities, residence halls, health fairs, orientations, sports teams, and more. Also, we can specialize any presentation to make it unique for the group to which we are speaking to.

In addition to these larger format presentations, we have also held small discussion groups in dorms and coffee houses.

You can now check out a few slides from a recent presentation, please keep in mind that this is only a portion of the presentation. Some rights reserved.

The Silent Witness Project:

The "Silent Witness Project" is a massive public display memorializing female victims of mens violence in Texas. Last year we made over 700 signs representing women who were murdered by their male partners. It is available to be loaned to groups at other universities. Photos are available at Flickr.

White Ribbon Campaign:

mavThe White Ribbon is the largest effort in the world of men working to end men's violence against women.  During White Ribbon Campaign week, men wear a white ribbon as a symbol of men's opposition to violence against women. We bring this campaign to the UNT Campus each November.

Take Back The Night:

The "Take Back The Night" rally is held every year in April. It is a rally and vigil that is intended to raise awareness about Sexual Assault and Violence.  MAV works very closely with other campus organizations to support the Take Back The Night Campaign.
